Here are some of my past projects and experiences.

Description: "Coping" depicts a pair of hands emerging from a bed of hydrangeas. I have always had a habit of picking the skin around my nails whenever I was anxious. Hydrangeas are known to be a species of flowers that require a lot of water to survive. The hydrangeas represent my relationship with this habit. Just like how hydrangeas are highly dependent on water to survive, I am dependent on this habit to cope with my anxiety.

Description: "Anitya" is a mandala made out of mayfly wings, which are known for their short 24 hour lifespan. The mandala is a reference to the Tibetan Buddhist philosophy about impermanence, meant to remind the viewer the ephemerality of life. The circular form of work is also intended to reflect the cyclical nature of life. The work aims to create a visceral experience to dispel the fear and denial surrounding death.

Description: "Truth" portrays a close-up of my grandmother's skin. It aims to convey inevitability of age as our human body will show signs of aging, most prominently through the wrinkles of our skin. As such. the work intends to capture as much detail of the aging human skin. Despite the advancements in medical technology, it is impossible to prevent aging as our bodies can never lie and will ultimately succumb to the natural forces of degradation.
